The end of Elixirs
...Did the title give you a scare?
Yes? No?
It was worth a shot.
This concerns something that's been on my mind for quite a few months now.
As of late, I've become aware of several other musical groups/artists recording under an alias not at all dissimilar from mine (if not exactly the same name). This couples with several album names bearing the same title, and the fact that, to be honest, 'Elixirs' is not at all what it once was.
And so, I'm making this announcement to let any interested parties know that 'Life Death Love' will be the last Elixirs album to be released (though, if I may say so, it's quite a good exit).
I will, of course, still be recording music - in fact, I've become much more passionate about it in the past months than I ever have been. All that's changing is the name.
Henceforth, I will be recording under the guise 'Gomeisa.' Have fun finding out where it came from. The name itself originates from Arabic and translates to 'the bleary-eyed' (or 'the little bleary-eyed one, depending on yr source of transliteration). It seems interesting to me, at least.
I've already setup the Last.fm page for it (find it here). For the love of God, just please don't tag it as 'post-rock' – I can't deny that I haven't been fond of the connotation for some time now, and I also can't deny that this factors into a change of moniker (albeit somewhat less significantly).
Orders for 'Life Death Love' will still be functioning through the Elixirs website, and a new website with future release info, et cetera will surface shortly.
Thanks to all for following along – I hope you continue to follow the music and my idiosyncrasies through this little transition.
xoxo

Further details

As of today, it's a mere 8 days until 'Life Death Love' is launched. Insane.
As has been already mentioned, the first 10 (yes, that's right, ten) copies of Life Death Love to be ordered will come with a bonus cassette project that I just finished wrapping up. The specs on it:

Whispered Landslide
2009
A1. Whispered Landslide
A2. Exegesis
B1. Amarillo
B2. Taxon Divergence
Track A1 from upcoming full-length CDR project.
Tracks A2, B1, B2 previously unreleased.
I've posted a preview of the title track on the Elixirs Last.FM page, which you can listen to (but not download).
The title track is also a bit of a preview in itself, alluding to (and to be included on) the next album I've been hammering away at. Information will continue to emerge as the album grows toward completion, but it's already shaping up to be a much more intense recording than anything I've worked on thus far. Pretty stoked about the packaging for this one as well. I suspect it will be another run of 100 CDRs, but I'll have to see how things shape up, and what the response is like to 'Life Death Love' before deciding anything further. I am very excited about it, though.
Finally, I just want to recap that 'Life Death Love' will only be available to order online via the Elixirs website, and you must have a PayPal account in order to purchase it. PayPal is free to signup, and you can link it to either a credit card to bank account. The reason for this is that it is the fastest - and safest - way that I've found to pay online. Cheques, cash et cetera seem to have a habit of going wrong, so I'd prefer to circumnavigate that whole affair. If there are any problems, please feel free to contact me.
Also to recap, the album's shipping-inclusive price of $15 CDN is for North American orders only. People residing outside of North America MUST contact me via email before ordering to work out shipping arrangements. Any international orders made without prior arrangements will be refunded and the order cancelled. Pretty simple setup, and one that is used with 99.9% of mail order services anyways, so hopefully there's no issues with this.
Thanks to everyone for following along.
Hope to talk to you all (and get an order in the mail for you) some time next week!
-Cole
